Teachable Moments

The alarm goes off about 4:00 a.m. and it is time to get up and get those newspapers delivered.   Mr. Man and BubbyDooDoo Bear help me each morning, and get paid handsomely for it.   "Financial 101" has started early for my 2nd grader, but he seems to save better than me!
Lots of fun things happen on the papers:

  • Nocturnal animals - this is especially awesome when we are learning about that particular animal for science.
  • Night time sky filled with stars and full moons - as the seasons pass we try to find the constellations, again, great for science.
  • Listen to audio books.   We just finished "The Sea of Trolls" - fantastic book!
  • Prayers - I also pray as we start off.  We pray for our safety, those who don't the the Lord as Savior, those who are in mourning, those who are going through trials, our friends, co-op, our family and then ourselves.  No distractions for them either, except if they fall asleep.
  • Listening to K-Love and Sermons.   We all love to sing!   A great sermon that early is great for the soul, too, especially from Charles Stanley or Chuck Swindoll. I am always amazed that when I think they AREN'T listening, they really are.  Love the discussions we have.
  • Memory, navigation, and lots of laughter most mornings.
Hey, we are suppose to find "teachable" moments in all situations.    And all this before we even start our homeschooling day!
