"Yellow Ball" Lapbook

When BubbyDooDoo Bear was about 4, I used BFIAR (Before Five in a Row). We really enjoyed the time together reading.   If you don't know what BFIAR, I will give you a synopsis.
In the book, you will find listed 23 children's books.   Jane Claire Lambert took each book and created lessons to go along with each.  MANY lessons!  There math lessons, science lessons, character lessons, everything all rolled up into one book!   So each day you read the book for a week (or how ever long you want to do it), it is called "rowing".  During that week you choose which lessons you want to do with your child.
It is a great way to teach your love and incorporate reading time.  Nothing better than snuggling up on the couch, reading...all the time, your love is learning.
There are also sites that have wonderful printables to go along with each book as well.

BubbyDooDoo Bear and I did "Yellow Ball" by Molly Bang.

For our "rowing" we used printables from
Confessions of a Homeschooler for the Letter "Y",  Paintbrush Match Game, and Mouse Paint.

We made a lapbook using file folders. This was our cover. BubbyDooDoo Bear made it from painting a white paper with light blue, adding a rectangle of dark blue, and a yellow cut out "ball".

you color and cut out things that are yellow and put them inside the little booklet.

used a bingo marker for this one

a little pocket that you put inside the lapbook.  He colored the pictures that began with "Y" , cut them out, and put them in the pocket.

As we read through the book, this day, we counted the different colored balls.

Made his own ball.

 Using the balls, demonstrate positions.

He loved playing with these.
